The Challenge

Levels of unemployment affecting African-Australian communities in Melbourne's western suburbs including North Melbourne, Carlton, Footscray, and Flemington are unacceptable.

According to the 2016 Census:
North Melbourne
African Australian 26.3%
Overall 6.4%
Carlton
African Australian 31.3%
Overall 8.3%
Too often, people who could do the job don't get the opportunity because of who they are. Africause addresses the specific barriers facing African-Australian job seekers through community-led programs.
