Changes to COVID Restrictions

June 21, 2021Acting Victorian Premier James Merlino this morning announced a snap state-wide seven-day
lockdown until 11.59 pm on Thursday 3 June.
From 11.59 pm tonight, 27 May 2021, Victoria will move to Stage 4 restrictions as follows:
- There will be 5 permitted reasons to leave home:
- Shopping for necessary goods and services within 5km of home, unless nearest
shops are further– one household member once per day
- To get vaccinated (40-49-year-old age group now eligible for a vaccine, including
Pfizer where available)
- Caregiving and compassionate reasons
- Authorised work or permitted education
- Exercising for 2 hours per day outside of the home (with household members,
intimate partner or one other person who is not from a person’s household or
their intimate partner)
- Shopping for necessary goods and services within 5km of home, unless nearest
- Masks will be compulsory everywhere except for in the home unless an exemption
applies - The 5km from home limit will apply except for permitted work unless there is a need for
essential items beyond that distance.
Detail of the restrictions
- There will be no private or public gatherings or visits to anyone’s home (except bubbles for single-person households).
- Hospitality will be closed except for take-away.
- There will be no visits to residential aged care facilities other than in limited
circumstances. - Hospital visits will be restricted to circumstances of giving birth, end of life, accompanying a child.
- Schools will be closed except for vulnerable students or whose parents/carers are permitted, workers.
- Higher education will be closed.
- All non-essential retail will close (does not include supermarkets, bottle shops, pharmacies) – click and collect available.
- Other than online, there will be no real estate inspections or auctions.
- Place of worship will be closed (other than for broadcasting services); there will be no
religious gatherings; funerals will be limited to 10 people (indoor or outdoor), and there will be no weddings except where compassionate grounds apply. - Venues that must close include hairdressers; indoor and outdoor pools; gyms; libraries
(click and collect available); entertainment venues; creative studios; play centres;
community centres. - Childcare, kindergartens and early childcare centres will remain open.
- Other than essential/permitted workers, everyone must work from home.
